About Rotaract
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 18 to 30. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they’re sponsored by a local Rotary club. This makes them true “partners in service” and key members of the family of Rotary.
As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with more than 7,000 clubs in about 163 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.
How does it work?
All Rotaract efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members addressing their communities’ physical and social needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service.
What are some other opportunities available to Rotaractors?
Rotaractors may also:
- Assist in organizing Interact clubs or mentor Interactors
- Participate in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards
- Become Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholars or Group Study Exchange team members

Rotaract @ RC Sofia International
Rotary Club Sofia International has 2 Rotaract clubs in its family.
Rotary Club Sofia International sponsored the formation of its first Rotaract Club back in 2008 which became in the years one of the best Rotaract clubs in District 2482 (Bulgaria). Also as the only international Rotaract club in Bulgaria it brought new practices and worked mainly in the area of international cooperation. The club was established in 2008 but officially chartered on May 8, 2009 with charter president Mr. Dimiter Mandradjiev who later (2011) became the first member of Rotaract Club Sofia International who gained membership at Rotary Club Sofia International. Later during the years the club gained more popularity through its innovative practices. In the middle of 2012 the Rotaract Club Sofia International narrowed its activities to administrative meetings and its activities are focused mainly on gathering at meetings and planning the next years. Rotaract Club Sofia International at Medical Academy
From October 2012 the RC Sofia International started the preparation for the formation of a second Rotaract club in its Rotary family. Through the strive of Mr. Izzet Bugra Cansev a Rotaract Club Sofia International has been established in the Medical Academy in Sofia, Bulgaria with more than 25 members – 90% foreign students from 7 nations. The charter party preparations are under way for the first university based Rotaract club in Sofia city (2nd university based in Bulgaria after the 1st in American University in Blagoevgrad city).
